Phillip Inzerillo is the Instrumental Music Director at Columbine High School. His program was awarded a grant for a new sound and recording system.
“Our instrumental music program had a need and the Columbine Academic Foundation was there to support us! The instrumental music program at Columbine High School is grateful to the Academic Foundation for their generous grant in providing funds for a modern and improved sound and recording system. The equipment has expanded and improved the quality of the program by providing a unique learning environment.
The sound system enhances the quality of live performances within school concerts, competitive halftime shows, and community events held at Clement Park, and even our very own Coffee Jam student open mic night. The Marching Rebels use the system during the entire summer/fall for marching band rehearsals and competitions. The portable sound system not only serves to amplify our sound but it will record our music to be used to address state-adopted music education standards for learning in our two orchestra classes. The system is also used as both a formative and summative assessment tool (recording, listening, and analyzing musical performances and making lesson decisions based on student achievement outcomes). This grant has served our Jazz Band for stage performances while they performed throughout our community and middle and elementary schools. I am incredibly grateful to the CHSAF donors for making this happen for us! It has changed our instrumental music program for the better.”
